Getting Started

Install BarkCard and run your first session in under two minutes.

Install

  1. Download BarkCard for your platform (macOS, Windows, or Linux).
  2. Run the installer or open the app bundle.
  3. Grant camera and microphone permissions when prompted. BarkCard needs both to monitor and record.

Onboarding

On first launch, BarkCard asks for your dog's name, breed, and birthday. This personalizes the app — report cards, insights, and the UI all use your dog's name. You can update this anytime in Settings.

Your First Session

  1. Navigate to the Monitor tab.
  2. Click Start Report Card. The YAMNet AI model loads (takes a few seconds on first run).
  3. BarkCard begins listening through your microphone and recording video through your camera.
  4. Leave the room. The app monitors continuously, detecting barks, howls, whimpers, and other vocalizations.
  5. When you return, click Finish Report Card. BarkCard saves the session, extracts video clips around each vocalization, and stitches them into a highlight reel.
  6. View your dog's report card in the Report Cards tab.
