What you'll need

  • Free disk space — about 4 GB per hour while recording. Most of it is released once the report card is built, leaving roughly 200 MB per session.
  • A webcam and microphone — built-in or external. Audio is required; video is optional but needed for clips and reels.
  • A processor from roughly 2018 onwards — BarkCard analyses audio continuously while a session runs.
    • Apple silicon — any M-series chip, comfortably
    • Intel — Core i5 8th generation or newer
    • AMD — Ryzen 5 2000 series or newer
    Older or dual-core chips will still work, they will simply run warmer and use more battery.
  • 4 GB of RAM minimum, 8 GB recommended for long sessions.
  • Graphics with WebGL support — any integrated graphics from the last decade. No dedicated card needed.

Nothing is uploaded, so everything runs on your own hardware. A laptop left on battery will use it faster than usual while a session is running.
